VOLUNTEERS: WOMENS GUILD

The Bells Are Ringing

The Guild was founded in March 1993 and has grown steadily to a current membership of approximately 65 women. Our goals, as stated in our by-laws, are to assist in the preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of the Mission and promote this landmark for future generations by fundraising and volunteering for special activities at the Mission. We meet monthly (third Wednesday of the month) September through June. However, our support of the Mission is ongoing year round.

Our crowning achievement has been the award winning Mission San Juan Capistrano Cook Book. Where we worked diligently researching the project, raising funds, collecting and testing recipes, holding bake sales and tasting parties, and scouring the history books and archives for interesting stories to include in the book.

Since its inception nearly four years ago, Mission San Juan Capistrano’s The Bells are Ringing, a Call to Table cookbook has grossed over $250,000. The net proceeds of about $156,000 have been dedicated toward much needed preservation of Orange County’s only mission and most historically significant site and museum.
