Historic Downtown San Juan Capistrano




Spend the day in San Juan Capistrano! Visitors of Mission San Juan Capistrano should plan to break up the visit by dining locally at any one of the great downtown family friendly restaurants within walking distance of the Mission.

Visitors can also plan to tour the Los Rios Historic District, see the new retablo in the Mission Basilica (just north of the historic Mission), or shop the nearby antiques stores.


Architectural Walking Tour – FREE
SATURDAYS AT 10 A.M.

Architecture buffs may want to take a walk through 200 years of architecture in the city. See a variety of architectural styles including Adobe, Victorian, Craftsman, Spanish, Revival, Eclectic, Streamline Modern and Post Modern structures.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Location: Train Depot on Verdugo St.

Historical Walking Tour – FREE
SUNDAYS AT 1 P.M.
The Historical Walking Tour visits two adobes built in the 1790s, Los Rios St., a Victorian House and other Historic homes and businesses. You will hear stories of the people who lived here and tales of ghosts, pirates, hidden tunnels and treasures.

Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes
Location: Train Depot on Verdugo St.
