Mission San Juan Capistrano Scout Program

Scouting Out History

Boy Scouts, let us help you fulfill Cub Scout requirements or earn a scout merit badge. Girl Scouts, let us help you work on try its, interest projects, or earn a badge. Many scout groups visit our site to fulfill various requirements.

We invite you and your scout group to take advantage of all that the Mission San Juan Capistrano has to offer, on our museum site as well as though our Mission Matters educational program.

Mission Matters offers curriculum-based activities that adhere to the content standards and concepts defined by California Department of Education History-Social Science Content Standards. Mission Matters also allows adults and students to actively work together making various products. Students will be encouraged to use their FIVE senses in exploring the past. Mission Matters offers a fun filled presentation and activity that engages students to step back in time and examine the daily lives of Native American Mission workers.

Sample projects will include one of the following:

Unraveling the Story:
Rope Making offered Mondays & Tuesdays

Following the Acjachemen Footsteps:
Adobe Brick Making offered Wednesdays & Thursdays

A Brand is Forever:
Hide Branding - by appointment, small groups only, great for Scout groups
