Mission
San Juan Capistrano is pleased to announce the release of its new
Passport Explorer, a children's booklet produced by Alphabet House
Publications.
The
Passport Explorer features a walking map, interesting historical
facts and games that teach about Mission history. This is an ideal
learning tool for an unguided student tour, as it features a guide
the student can work from during a tour.
The
Passport honors the memory of "Harry the Historian," Harry Francisco,
the Mission's volunteer Director of Archeology who died in 2006.
Francisco participated in many excavations on the Mission grounds,
which revealed much about its early structures. He also performed
photographic documentation of the Mission's grounds and artifacts.
A Teacher's Guide will soon
be ready for download. Please check back soon.
The
Passports may also be purchased by non-group tours at the front
gate for $2.
The
Passport Explorer includes a pencil, lanyard and plastic cover.
