Foundation Supports Mission San Juan Capistrano's Preservation

2007 Mission Preservation Foundation Board
of Directors

Orange County business and community leaders have joined to raise funds in order to preserve the Mission. Initially focused on the completion of the Great Stone Church, the Foundation has realized its goal of completing this major project. As a result, the Board of Directors has been expanded to 13 members with two additional directors appointed in December, 2005. The Board is committed to raising funds for specialized and comprehensive preservation work to ensure Mission San Juan Capistrano remains the most significant and historic site in Orange County. President of the Mission Preservation Foundation is longtime Mission supporter Anthony R. Moiso, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rancho Mission Viejo. Tony remarks, "Mission San Juan Capistrano is the true birthplace of Orange County," remarked Moiso. "Its history is our heritage. Its story is our legacy. It belongs to everyone."

The Board's current project is the Conservation of the Serra Chapel, anticipated to be completed by October, 2008. Additional projects before the Board involve museum upgrades, collaborative partnerships, improved site management and preservation throughout the grounds. Each Fall the Foundation hosts an auction-free black tie gala to raise funds for special projects at the Mission. This next September will feature a concert with entertainer Vittorio Grigolo.
