Photography for personal enjoyment is encouraged at the Mission. Still photography is permitted for private, noncommercial use only. Learn more about portrait photography on site.
Photographs cannot be published, sold, reproduced, transferred, distributed, or otherwise commercially exploited in any manner whatsoever. Learn more.
The operation or use of any drones, unmanned aircraft/flying systems, and remotely-controlled or radio-controlled flying machines (whether or not motorized) of all types, shapes, and sizes at any time in the vicinity of or on Mission property is prohibited.
All public areas are subject to closure for preservation projects or events.

To ensure a positive experience for you, while maintaining a pleasant experience for our many visitors, please be aware of the rules and guidelines first to understand how to obtain permission. All commercial filming and photography must receive written pre-approval. Remember that the Mission is a public place where visitors are welcome in all public areas, and that regular business continues during normal operating hours. Some festivals and special events draw exceptionally large crowds.
Mission San Juan Capistrano may photograph, film, or videotape visitors for educational and promotional purposes. Use of a ticket is implied consent for the use of the holder’s likeness, voice, or video image for marketing purposes.
