Historic Bell Ringing: Founders Day
Friday, November 1, 2013
Noon
Our story begins in 1775, when Mission San Juan Capistrano was first founded by Father Lasuen, on October 19th. Weeks later, the founding party left San Juan Capistrano to help their colleagues in San Diego after receiving word of a revolt occuring there.

Once things had settled in San Diego, Father Junipero Serra, a Franciscan priest over 50 years old when he traveled from New Spain (now Mexico) to Alta California, personally led a party to re-found Mission San Juan Capistrano on All Saints Day, November 1, 1776.
