Exhibition, education, conservation, preservation
and acquisitions are the goals of Mission San Juan Capistrano Arts
& Artifacts Council. Membership invites all those interested in
history; design, construction and hands-on creation of exhibit spaces
and period rooms.
The Artifacts Council seeks to engage appealing
speakers and coordinate lecture series with exhibitions and other
projects. Members are also involved in seeking historically appropriate
acquisitions and fundraising endeavors.
Rotating exhibits pertain to the history of California,
however, some Museum exhibits include areas of broader interests
such as fine arts [plein-aire paintings], personalities [Abraham
Lincoln], architecture [adobe structures and the Great Stone Church],
landscape [Mission Gardens], period clothing [Living History] and
/ or the decorative arts [furniture, textiles, etc.]
Knowledge that a unique piece of history still
exists is only the fist small step. The piece must be located,
conditions of sale or exhibition, and other questions answered.
