Bruce Brainerd assumed the position of General Manager for The Ritz‐Carlton, Laguna Niguel in 2008.
During his tenure, Bruce has been instrumental in earning or sustaining the hotel’s numerous awards and accolades. They include 2012 AAA Five‐Diamond Award, 2012 Mobile Four‐Star Award, 2012 Travel & Leisure World’s Best List, 2012 Condé Nast Traveler Gold List, 2011 Platinum Award‐Smart Meetings, Gold Key Awards, Meetings & Conventions, The Ritz‐Carlton Cobalt Award and Community Footprints Regional Property of the Year.
Bruce is active member of the community, serving as board member for The Ocean Institute and Vice‐Chairman for Dana Point TBID. He also supports multiple local charities’ through the property’s Community Footprints initiatives, which include Missions San Juan Capistrano, Surfer’s Healing, Surfrider Foundation, SIMA, Pet Project Foundation, Olive Crest, Second Harvest Food Bank, OC Rescue Mission and Miracles for Kids. He has also served on boards for San Diego North CVB, Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce and Newport Beach CVB.
Originally from the Napa Valley, Bruce brings over 29 years of experience in the hospitality industry to his role. Prior to joining The Ritz‐Carlton Hotel Company, Bruce spent 18 years with Hyatt Hotels Corporation, working through the Finance and Operations disciplines. Most recently, he held General Manger positions at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla and the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach. His background also includes several positions within Hyatt’s corporate office, including Manager of Hotel Accounting and Director of Domestic Hotel Operations.
Bruce’s hospitality career began in 1983 working for AIRCOA managed properties located in Napa Valley, California and Denver, Colorado.
Bruce is passionate about health and nutrition, exploring our global village and spending special time with his dog Simon.
